I have been shooting for four years, and went pro in January 2015.

What body/bodies do you use?

I use a Nikon D750 as my primary body and Nikon D5300 as a backup.

What’s your favourite lens and why?

The Sigma 70-200mm lens, reason being I can zoom in and out without having to move and still get sharp photos.

Nikon D750, Nikon 50mm lens and a Yongnuo external flash, reacharble batteries and memory cards.

What is your favourite place in Kenya to take pictures?

Olepolos

What is the most challenging shoot you’ve been on to date and how did you get the shot?

I once did a small outdoor event and it started raining, I had to hold my camera with one hand and an umbrella with the other hand. The photos were amazing and the client called me again to shoot another event.

What’s the story behind your favourite image?

An image I took during the KICC fireworks display back in 2016. The photo can be viewed on my website www.alfredmwangi.co.ke under landscapes and cityscapes category.

The profession is currently growing very fast and people in general have started appreciating the art.

How do you set yourself apart from competitors?

I try and build a long lasting relationship with my clients and take time to listen to their needs.

What are your top tips for photographers looking to develop skills in your specialty(ies)?

Allocate time to learn, then practice what you have learnt and with time you will capture good photos that people will pay for.
